The Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Society offers a variety of programs and services to members.

The Gitmaxmak’ay Nisga’a Society has four active community groups:

Gitmaxmak’ay Elders

the elders group consists of Nisga’a elders living in Prince Rupert and Port Edward over the age of 65. As of 2014, there are approximately 160 registered Nisga’a elders in the region. The elders group gathers once a month on the 2nd Wednesday in the Nisga’a Hall.

Gitmaxmak’ay Youth Council

the youth council is an elected body of Nisga’a youth between the ages of 13-29. The Council has an annual budget for various activities such as a Christmas celebration, feasting camps, socials, ski trips, and more.

Gitmaxmak’ay Dancers

the dance group is an active part of the Nisga’a community in Prince Rupert, performing their songs and dances around the region. The group practices weekly at the Nisga’a Hall throughout most of the year.

Gitmaxmak’ay Fundraisers

the fundraisers group is responsible for conducting fundraising initiatives to raise money for the annual Children’s Christmas Party and graduation dinners.
